At the Flikier Dental Institute we are proud to offer the most advanced orthodontic treatment in the world, Invisalign.
With the use of Invisalign, orthodontists in Costa Rica can align teeth to the desired position in a discreet and minimally disruptive way. With the use of virtually invisible aligners, most people will probably not notice you are wearing them, allowing them to seamlessly fit into your current lifestyle while not affecting your day to day interactions.
How It Works
With the use of advanced 3D computer imaging technology, Invisalign shows the complete treatment plan, allowing patients to see what their smiles will look like even before they begin treatment. Once the imaging is complete a series of clear aligners are constructed, these are highly customized for each patient and cannot be used by anyone else.
The cutting-edge technology behind Invisalign, is based on a series of custom made invisible aligners which move teeth gradually in a very controlled way. These aligners unlike traditional braces, not only control the amount of movement but also the timing of the movement. Each aligner is worn for a span of two weeks before being replaced by another one. This means that at each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move, as per the Invisalign treatment plan set out at the beginning by your qualified orthodontist.
Who can Perform the Treatment?
Any orthodontist in Costa Rica who wishes to offer this innovative technique must receive rigorous specialized training to become qualified and proficient in the various requirements needed for treating patients. This is highly technical procedure and not everyone is qualified to provide it. Align Technology, Inc, the company responsible for this procedure will not permit dental offices to provide the treatment unless the orthodontists have passed the required training.
At the Flikier Dental Institute we strive to offer the best and most advanced procedures available to out patients, and it is because of this that we are one of the few clinics in the country that are certified to offer the Invisalign treatment.
What are the aligners made of and how should they be worn?
The invisalign aligners are made of a very strong medical grade thermoplastic material, which was uniquely developed for the Invisalign system and cannot be found anywhere else.
Each aligner is custom-made to fit snugly on the patient’s teeth. Since the aligners are meant to be changed every two weeks, your qualified practitioner will provide you with several aligners in each visit.
The frequency of visits depends on each patient’s requirements based on the complexity of the case, but generally happen every 4 to 6 weeks. It is important for you as a patient to follow instructions and use the aligners in the correct order to obtain the desired results.
Invisalign aligners are removable, which offers great flexibility to eat and drink all your favorite foods during treatment. Aligners must be worn at all times during the duration of treatment, except when eating, cleaning or flossing teeth.
Another advantage of the Invisalign aligners is that for the vast majority of patients, they do not affect speech. However, as with most orthodontic appliances, there will be an adjustment period associated with having a foreign object in the mouth.
Who Can Use the Invisalign System?
Experienced Invisalign orthodontists in Costa Rica, can use the system to treat malocclusion in most adults and adolescents who wish to have a straighter smile.
The treatment is ideal for adults who cannot opt for the traditional metal braces due to their everyday commitments at work. There are certain conditions which may interfere with treatment but only a qualified practitioner could determine if the treatment is right for you.
In the case of teenagers, per recent studies, more than 90% of adolescents feel that the use of traditional metal braces would keep them from fitting in with their peers. At the Flikier Dental Institute we would be happy to discuss if Invisalign is the right treatment option for your child.
Because of the frequency of visits and the long term treatment process; the Invisalign treatment in Costa Rica is normally, not a viable option for most dental tourists, however is you are someone who travels with a certain frequency to Costa Rica and would like more information on this treatment do not hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to evaluate your case.
